A winter morning walk on the lakeside road of Ioannina, is definitely an experience that every photographer, amateur or professional, will remember for very long. Small boats come and go from the island, disappearing in the mist, accompanied by the sounds of seagulls and wild ducks flying low above the shallow water. Pamvotida has linked its history with Ali Pasha, lady Frosini and lady Vasiliki.
The small island of the lake has a lot to show to modern visitors like the millennia old Filanthropinon monastery and the house of Ali Pasha. Restaurants are good and many and the locals can be extremely welcoming and helpful. The wetland itself is very important, with many rare species residing here. The view of the lake, the island and the town in the morning mist, is unique if you choose to drive to the opposite direction, at the base of mountain Mitsikeli, on the old road to Metsovo. An ideal picturesque destination for photographers of any skill level.
